AN ANTIQUE LOUIS XVI PERIOD ORMOLU AND WHITE MARBLE CLOCK
circa 1785

A superb quality French Louis XVI period clock executed in the finest ormolu and still retaining the original mercurial fire gilding.

The subject would appear to be unique and consists of a central stand decorated with classical motifs and flowering swags with masks depicting the four seasons which are attached to inverted scroll feet. The central feature being an open sunflower in the marble platform which is also decorated with more classical motifs.

Maximum height 26in (66cm). Maximum width (of base) 11in (28cm).
