A HIGHLY IMPORTANT AND MOST UNUSUAL ANTIQUE EARLY REGENCY PERIOD AMBASSADORIAL CHAIR OF STATE
English, circa 1800-1820

A highly important and most unusual English early Regency period carved wood and gilded Chair of State, this chair in the ‘Grecian taste’ and having been supplied by the British Crown as ‘The Chair of State’ for one of our overseas embassies for the ceremonial use of His Britannic Majesty’s ambassador to the country in question. MAKER: John Russell (c.1773-1822); GILDER: William Adair.

Overall height 45in (114.5cm). Height (of seat) 20 1/2in (52cm). Width (of seat) 26 1/2in (67cm). Depth (of seat) 21in (53.5cm).
