AN ANTIQUE ENGLISH REGENCY PERIOD LADY'S WRITING TABLE
circa 1810

A very fine quality English early Regency period lady's writing table, being executed in selected, figured and faded mahogany, the crossbanded top still retaining the original brass pierced fretted gallery, the frieze containing three mahogany lined drawers to the front and three dummy drawers to the back, all the drawers still retaining the original mahogany knob handles, the table standing on elegant end-standard supports, these being inset with a panel of flame figured mahogany and with carved anthemion corbels at the top and a rectangular carved flower at the base, the outward-curving legs having carved and moulded circular paterae at the top and terminating in the original brass castors, the legs joined by a turned and moulded cross-stretcher.

Overall height (to top of gallery) 29in (74cm). Height (to veneered top) 27 1/2in (70cm). Width 25in (64cm). Depth 17in (43cm).
