AN ANTIQUE ENGLISH REGENCY PERIOD MAHOGANY WINE COOLER OF SARCOPHAGUS

A superb quality English Regency period wine cooler of sarcophagus form, being executed in selected, figured and faded mahogany, the domed top being surmounted by a carved mahogany patera, and crossbanded, the veneers to the top being quartered, the sides being chamfered and moulded, the front, sides and back being inlaid with a panel of flame figured mahogany, the panels being surrounded by a carved 'knulled' moulding, the cooler being supported on the original paw feet, painted to resemble bronze, these feet resting upon a shaped incurving mahogany platform, the top lifting to reveal all the original lead fitments including the original drain plug.
