A highly decorative scene made in China for export to England, executed in water colour on paper and in a fine state of preservation. (Large format.)

The subject matter being of charm and well balanced, depicting a Chinese calligrapher surrounded by men, women and children, standing on a stage overlooking a lake with mountains in the background.

On the reverse side written in French for the second salon. The frame is simple with old decoration and could well have formed part of the original wall-panelling in the salon.
