A PAIR OF ANTIQUE MID-18TH CENTURY CEREMONIAL COVERED MEAD GOBLETS
English, circa 1740

A highly important PAIR of mid-eighteenth century ceremonial covered mead goblets of exceptional size, the goblets raised on domed and folded feet and hollow columnar stems with base knop and triple annulated knop below the bowl; the cup-shaped bowl gadrooned on the lower section and engraved with a frieze of floral scrolls and opposing birds with polished roundels below; the domed covers with air beaded ball knops and engraved to match the bowls of the goblets.
