A superb quality PAIR of English George III period neo-Classical cassolettes, the ovoid bodies being in ‘BLUE JOHN’ with gilt bronze ormolu mounts, the tops, when reversed, becoming candlesticks.
An identical model is illustrated on the mantelpiece in the Tapestry Room (1775) at Osterley Park, Middlesex, the former home of the Earls of Jersey.
